If you believe in accidents, then you might say that my public speaking career began by accident in 2002 when I was asked to fill-in for the keynote speaker at an exhibit opening at the Blanden Memorial Art Museum in Iowa. I spoke off-the-cuff for 20 minutes on the healing power of art to a packed exhibit hall; when the lights came up, I was stunned to see that everyone in the audience was crying – moved to tears by my speech and story of how art had helped me find wholeness and healing after a severe traumatic brain injury. Saying “You’ve a natural” the museum’s director urged me to pursue a career in motivational speaking.
Since 2002, I’ve spoken at hundreds of venues on a wide variety of subjects including: stress resilience; “why did this happen for me”; life purpose; soulful aging and other aging related topics; the 10 elements of dignity; forgiveness; a funny thing happened on the way to losing my house; and more.
If you’re looking for a dynamic, insightful, often humorous, and always interesting speaker, I can tailor a talk to suit the needs and interests of your business, social or religious organization, school, artist’s guild or health care organization.
